Revisiting Final Fantasy VII: Aeris' Death

Ahh, Final Fantasy VII. Those were the days. We're studying only became second fiddle until I could get Cloud's Final Limit Break.( Bet you can't even name that!) FF7 introduced me to many elements of the Square's Awesome RPG Genre and System(Active Time Battle, Gorgeous Cutscenes, Intricate Weapon/Magic System to name a few) and then some, it gave us a (sort of) romantic relationship between main character Cloud and um, flowergirl Aerith/Aeris.

Even though their romance was cut short at (SPOILER) Disc 2 at the(SPOILER again) Forgotten City, it gave us something to follow besides the main plot of the game. One of the best plot devices of gaming was the shocker event that involves badass protagonist Sephiroth. None of us expected that Seppy would lodge his Murasame into Aeris' torso. Mind you, this was a time wherein the internet was still a baby and information sharing was rather slow. I admit I shed a tear( Note: a TEAR.) on that scene above. It's considered as one of the most shocking moments in gaming history. It was a unique element in the game because no matter how many times you replay it or try so many different other methods (*sob*), the story would not progress unless Aeris' dies.

Now, I remembered this part of the game because recently, blogsites have recently made fun of this moment as well. First things first, two words: Phoenix Down. Is there a certain rule made in RPG games that if you die in a cutscene, you can't be revived through PD? Second, if Cloud ran like hell for about 30 seconds rather than stare at Aeris' cute smile for 30 seconds, she could have lived, man. Finally, if Aeris was an exceptional healer, why couldn't she freakin heal! Sharo na pod. Hey, I'm just sayin man.

Peace Out.

This shocked me indeed. I "kinda" cried too. I mean its really sad. I love Aerith when I played this game back when I was 12, 13-ish.

She had to die because she has to save the human race whatever. She was sort of the last super race in their era so of course the special one dies. Wait, what?! I don't get it. Sorry for babblin'
