Sucker Punch was a mess

!MINOR SPOILER ALERT!

When I was heading into the theater today, I wasn't really expecting much from Sucker Punch. Thank God I didn't set my expectations high because damn, the movie was just bad. I didn't expect it would get So lame at the first 10 minutes of the film and trust me, you'll have a hard time guessing who's who and what the hell everybody's up to if you haven't read any synopsis but basically, the intro starts with two girls who are screwed over some huge fortune and one ends up dead and the other is sent to a mental institution that also doubles as a whorehouse. (See? Confusing as hell.)

It was alright at first once you figure that out but then, the complications arise. The characters names are just names that you hear from old black and white movies ( Baby Doll, Blondie, Rocket, and it isn't really explained why this is so. The first time skip was presented so quick that you'll be left stunned and thinking who the hell are the new people on screen. Also, I understand that Baby Dolls unique ability is to "let herself go" in the music and it serves as her method of entering her oddly violent, anime-ish imagination. Personally, I would have loved to see at least one of her dances (which has a cool start sequence, by the way) rather than those war scenes . I'll admit though that some fight scenes were uber cool (Especially the first one) but other than that, everything goes downhill from there. Supporting characters Vanessa Hudgens and Jamie Leung provide NO support to the storyline at all,(Vanessa's character Blondie is a git near the end, though...) Pacing is fast but a little too fast for my taste because none of the characters are given a chance to elaborate their background and the characters objectives are by far the most simplest I've seen in a movie that it makes me wonder that maybe the purpose of those fight scenes were to hide the fact that the concept of the movie is just bad.

Overall, I'm really disappointed that Sucker Punch fails expectations after much hype. Shame, the idea was refreshingly new but presentation fails. Besides the fight scenes, everything else was a completely, disorganized mess.
