This is how my experience went during my first P2D/Team X-over sponsored tourney:
Note: I only attended day two of the tournament because I had other things to do on day one and I was pretty much expecting to get bodied on SSF4 anyway so meh..
As I arrived at the venue, I was surprised that the place was spacious and not hot. I was expecting that since it will be held on the 3rd floor of the Emporio Building, I was guessing that it was gonna be cramped and very uncomfortable and boy, was I wrong.
By the way, major shoutouts to Iggy and his family (they own the building), thanks so much for being so friendly and accommodating (food was awesome, too!)
I arrived pretty early so I had some time to get some practice games (I was only participating in UMVC3 because I haven't touched KOFXIII in forever) in with friend Raul 'Retic' de Leon of MK9PH and the two kids from Laguna (I forgot your names! Sorry guys!) and I also met the people of P2D. Well, most of them. hehe. Shoutouts to Sir Siopao, Drew/Insane, Jojo/Rebel SPARK,BM, Maelcreampie and the rest!
I also got to meet the people of Team X-Over. They were the organizers for the UMVC3 tourney. David, Amanda and the rest of the people were all cool and friendly people. In fact, practically everyone I met was very friendly and cheerful which was a treat and it also made the experience more fun.
As for the tournament proper...well, what I can say? I finished well off. I did not expect it to go that way but meh, maybe it was a test or something that I wasn't really prepared for. My first opponent was the defending champ himself: Papable Peter Chua. He was rocking his Trish/Wesker/Mags team. I got sent to Losers pretty early and I had a long climb ahead of me. I had to win five more games to get into top 8 and this was no easy task. I only got two games and that was it. I got eliminated by the kid from Laguna. Nice Dante, kid. I hope to see you next time as well so I can have my revenge but I kid, I kid!
Overall, it was a good experience for me even though I finished nowhere near the top. If I could join again I would but I'll just have to see if time and work permits. Peace out!
