Chady and the World: November 2011

I just renewed my driver's license earlier today and I would like to post the process here while it's fresh in my mind and this would serve as a reference for me and (maybe) some of you.

Note that I renewed at one of the approved Driver Renewal License Centers at malls (In this case, I went to the one at Island City Mall, Bohol) as I've tried it before and as long as you arrive early, you'll be done by lunch time!

So, first things first, I'd like to point out a few important things that what you should need to do before going to said renewal center:

* Try to go at least a week before your actual birthday. This prevents you from paying the expired fee (PTP: 75php) but bear in mind, they're still gonna be a lot of people there.
* Bring a ballpoint pen. I CANNOT stress this enough. The LTO won't provide pens so best bring your own. You don't want to be an idiot borrowing pens from strangers.
* Sleep early the night before so you can get there early.
* In the morning, drink LOTS of water so the urine test will be a breeze.
* Try to wear something decent as you're gonna get your picture taken.
* Obviously, bring your license (duh...)

So as you get there, proceed to the Driver Renewal License first and present your License to the evaluator. (Note: Have your license at the ready at all times) You will be given a form and again, I'd like to point out important points:

* Read and compare your form to the sample form posted at the walls.
* At the place where you need to put your Mother's name, remember to use her maiden name ( The name she used before she was married.) The same goes for the wife section of the form if you're married.
* Careful at the date and birthdate section.

After filling up the form, proceed to the drug and medical tests center for the urine exam. Get your form from the counter and fill up the form. Again, important points:

* Again, careful at the birthdate and date section.
* At PT, the medical forms were two pages. keep that in mind.

Next, get in line and wait for your turn to weewee. Prepare your license as well because they'll record your license number and you'd be given a specimen cup. After urinating, submit your pee and pay at the cashier (PTP: 420 Pesos) and proceed to the main part of the medical center and wait for your name to be called. When you're called, make sure to dry your hands beforehand for the fingerprint recording section. You'll be asked to sit again and wait for the medical exam. This exam consists of height and weight recording, eye exam, blood pressure test and a few questions ( Occupation, Civil Status, etc.) After this series of tests (and assuming that you're clean.) It's now time to head back to the Renewal Center.

Pass your form to the evaluator and assuming that you've made no mistakes, (Note:You're attention will be called by either the Evaluator or the Approval officer if you made a mistake or you've missed something) wait for your name to be called for the photo and the signature recording. Also, I'd like to note that wait for the officer's queue on when to stand and when to stand to avoid repetition and speaking of repetition, write slowly and softly at the signature section as it's very sensitive. The second to the last process is the paying of the renewal fee. Again, wait for your name to be called and assuming that you have no additional fees, the PTP is again 420 pesos. Finally, all you have to do is wait for the releasing officer to release your license. (ETA: Around 30 minutes)
